Coronavirus COVID XBB Cold Like How To Know If You Have COVID Or Common Cold

Covid Xbb.1.5 Symptoms: Everyone is shocked about the new variant of Corona. Initially, apart from battling with symptoms like fever, cough, fatigue, and loss of sense of smell and taste, people may experience severe complications including shortness of breath, chest pain and low blood oxygen levels. However, a lot changed with the advent of the Omicron variant. Its new sub-variant XBB.1.5 is being tagged as the ‘most widespread strain’ so far. The initial symptom of this variant is excessive chills. The WHO’s COVID-19 technical lead, Maria Van Kerkhove, said that XBB.1.5 is “the most transmissible sub-variant yet discovered”. However, the symptoms of the new Omicron subvariant are chills.

Are you feeling too cold?

According to Gavi, the vaccine alliance, this is especially true for patients who have been vaccinated or who have had a prior infection. Reports also suggest that the symptoms of XBB.1.5 are somewhat similar to previous Omicron strains. Now you must be thinking that how can you find out whether excessive cold is a symptom of Kovid or not. Both common cold and COVID are respiratory infections that spread from person to person through droplets from the nose and mouth. But it is important that you know that both the infections are different. Omicron’s sub-variant BF.7, which is causing havoc in China, has become a danger bell for the whole world. But if you are also seeing such symptoms, then definitely get a doctor checked.

How to know it is COVID or common cold

Symptoms like sore throat, runny nose, headache, body ache are said to be some of the most common symptoms of the XBB.1.5 variant, which are similar to the symptoms of common cold. However, while COVID is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the common cold can be caused by four coronaviruses – rhinoviruses being the most common. Compared to COVID, the common cold has a shorter potential incubation period, causes specific symptoms, and carries a lower risk of complications and death. If you have any symptoms similar to cold or Kovid-19, then the best way to tell the difference between them is to get Kovid checked. If your symptoms persist for more than 2-3 days, it is important that you take a COVID-19 diagnostic test for accurate results. You can choose to get the RT-PCR test or the rapid antigen test done.
